We love to work with smaller, innovative companies, and are always on the lookout for quality products that have sustainability at their heart.
Best Efforts is a one-woman business run by Danii, who crochets lovely gifts and homewares from recycled t-shirt yarn and other textiles. We stock a range of different-sized baskets – perfect for storing accessories, toys and pens – as well as some of Danii’s greetings cards.
While you’re in the repurposing mindset, why not perk up your house plants with Ocean Plastic Pots? Made in Scotland from recycled rope and fishing net, they’re sturdy and cheery – and you’re supporting the removal of plastic from our oceans and beaches.
The company was founded by Ally, a former commercial diver, who saw first-hand the detrimental effect that waste plastic has on marine life. During the pandemic, he taught himself some basic manufacturing techniques and started making these moulded plant pots from his shed in Glasgow. In 2024, Ocean Plastic Pots won best product at Scotland’s Trade Show at the SECC.
To date, Ally and his team have recycled more than 25 tonnes of rope and fishing net from Scotland!
And in the food department, have you tried beeswax food wraps? They’re a brilliant alternative to cling film or plastic containers - breathable, washable, compostable and with natural anti-bacterial properties.
We have two brands, Natural Elements and Bumble Wrap, which come in a variety of pretty designs.
Finally, don't forget you can eliminate packaging by getting your grains, pulses, nuts, etc. from our ‘zero waste’ dispensers. Bring your own container (have it weighed at the counter before you start), then fill away!
